What is Massage Therapy?

Massage is the manipulation of soft tissues in the body. Massage techniques are commonly applied with hands, fingers, elbows, knees, forearms, feet, or a device. The purpose of massage is generally for the treatment of body stress or pain.

Deep Tissue-  Massage that focuses on realigning a deeper layer of muscle and connective tissue, helpful for chronic aches and pains such as stiff neck, upper and lower back pain, tightness in muscles, and soreness. The strokes are same as in a classic massage, but with slower movement and the pressure is deeper and more concentrated on areas of tension and pain to reach the deeper layer of the muscle  and the fascia.

Swedish Massage-  Body massage that focuses on relaxation by manipulating the muscle with long gliding strokes. Beneficial for increasing the level of oxygen in the blood, improving circulation, decreasing stress, and helping to boost the immune system as well as help to speed up soft tissue healing in the body.

Therapeutic Massage- Massage modality that helps to relieve pain, reduce stress, and work on a specific problem such as hip problems, shoulder issues as well as manipulating the body while working on muscles.
